80th Anniversary of Victory in the War of Resistance
To commemorate the 80th anniversary of victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance, the Hong Kong Museum of the War of Resistance and Coastal Defence (MWRCD) organised a series of activities, including a sharing session on the War of Resistance, film screenings and collaborative art creation activity; aiming to deepen the knowledge of the public and students about the War of Resistance, and to cherish the hard-earned peace.
The museum invited the Deputy President of the Society of Veterans of the Original Hong Kong Independent Battalion of the Dongjiang Column, Mr Lam Ming, to host a sharing session with local secondary students. He shared the wartime stories of his father's generation.
The Museum organised a collaborative art creation activity, the public is invited to write greeting cards to express their feelings about the War of Resistance as well as respect for the martyrs and veterans.
In collaboration with the Hong Kong Film Archive, the MWRCD arranged screenings of the anti-war movie "Life Goes On" (2024). The documentary highlighting the resilience of university teachers and students in southern China amid adversity and persevering in their educational pursuits despite adverse circumstances.
